New President takes the helm

Eddie MacIntyre, President of the Marine of the Year Society has stepped down and passed the baton over to James L. Hackbarth. As we thank PNC Eddie MacIntyre for so many years of dedication and leadership with the Marine of the Year Society, we also welcome the new President, James L. Hackbarth and we know and trust that he will continue to lead the Marine of the Year Society with the same traditions that has made it one of the "Elite" within the Marine Corps League.

The National Marine of the Year Award is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a regular member of the Marine Corps League. The candidates for this award are nominated by the people who know them best; the Marines of their own detachment. The recommendations are screened by a panel of judges made up entirely of past National Marines of the Year. The new Marine of the Year is introduced and honored at the National Convention Grand Banquet.

To those that are nominated by their respective Detachments and do not get selected, be proud! You have served your country well and your fellow Marines felt that you deserved to be reviewed for this honor. That alone is a privilege that very few have shared.
